In one of the biggest roster shocks of the offseason, Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyung has officially parted ways with T1, closing a defining chapter in LCK history and triggering a global scramble for one of the best AD carries of the modern era.
T1 confirmed the news early Monday morning, announcing that the 2025 Finals MVP will not return for the 2026 competitive season. The move ends a five-year run filled with some of the most iconic performances in both domestic and international play.
This move isn’t new for the organization, however. Last year after T1 bested Bilibili Gaming in another nail-biting 5-game series, the then back-to-back champions saw the departure of top lane player and 2024 Finals MVP Zeus to Hanwha Life Esports, whom lost 3-1 against Gen.G Esports in the Quarterfinals this year.
A Historic Run With T1
Gumayusi’s arrival in late 2019 marked the beginning of a new era for T1’s bot lane. His explosive mechanics, fearless laning, and late-game dominance made him one of the most feared marksmen in the world.
During his tenure, Gumayusi delivered multiple worlds finals runs and became the first AD Carry to hold 3 back-to-back championships. He was also known for his incredible synergy with Support player Keria, regarded as one of the best bot lane duos of all time. It is no surprise then that fans will miss his signature style while wearing T1 red.
For many fans, Gumayusi embodied the new era of T1 and hoped that he would continue Faker’s legacy after his retirement, whenever that may be.
What’s Next for Gumayusi?
As of publication, Gumayusi has not announced his next home.
Early speculation points toward:
- Hanwha Life Esports, joining his former teammate Zeus
- Ambitious LCS projects wanting a franchise-defining superstar
- Anywhere in the LPL.
Wherever he goes, Gumayusi will immediately become the centerpiece of any lineup.
T1 Faces a Defining Offseason
Replacing a player of Gumayusi’s caliber is no simple task. The current ADC market features talent, but few with proven elite-level consistency. T1 must choose wisely, but all signs point to acquiring Kim “Peyz” Su-hwan, current AD Carry for JD Gaming.
Whatever the future holds, it is certain that Guma has left his mark on T1 and the LCK as a whole.
**Update as of 11/19/25: In a post on socials, T1 has confirmed that Kim “Peyz” Su-hwan has joined T1 through 2028.
