Northwood University is making its return to the global esports spotlight as four of its players have secured spots at the 2025 Overwatch Champions Series (OWCS) World Finals, set for November 26-December 1 in Stockholm, Sweden.
Representing the Timberwolves on the international stage are Joseph “Lep” Cambriani, Christopher “Cjay” Smith, Rocco “Kronik” Iacobacci, and Diego “Vega” Moran.
Cambriani, Smith, and Iacobacci qualified after taking second place in the North American OWCS standings with Space Station Gaming. Moran, who recently returned to Northwood to complete his degree, earned his place by helping Team Liquid win the final North American stage of the season.
The 2025 World Finals will feature twelve elite teams from across the globe: three from North America, three from South Korea, three from Europe–Middle East–Africa, two from China, and one from Japan.
Northwood will also see representation from one of its alumni, Landon “Landon” McGee, who will compete with the Saudi Arabian organization Al Qadsiah.
Northwood Esports coaches & staff praised the players’ achievements, noting the program’s emphasis on consistent growth and high-level development on social media. Assistant Coach Aden Frosch added that having four current players and an alum reach the world’s biggest Overwatch stage highlights both their commitment and the program’s strong culture.
While preparations for the World Finals continue, Northwood’s collegiate teams begin their own postseason runs this week in Overwatch, Valorant, and Rocket League, aiming to qualify for the PlayVS College League Grand Finals in Akron, Ohio.
